The New England Patriots are almost certainly going to draft a quarterback with their number 3 pick in this years draft. The GM recently threw shade at Mac Jones, and it appears that new head coach Jerod Mayo and the team is leaning to drafting a quarterback to replace him. While Bill Belichick was still with the team, he had one of this years quarterbacks at the very top of his draft board.
Jayden Daniels Is The Top Quarterback According To Bill Belichick
According to NFL analyst Bridget Condon, Jayden Daniels is the guy that Belichick absolutely loved. He was at the top of the draft board for Bill and we will have to see if Jerod Mayo loves the prospect as well in the draft.
Daniels was the Heisman trophy winner this past season and had an incredible year for LSU. The team is set to have a meeting with him and the two other top quarterback prospects. If both Drake Maye and Caleb Williams are the top two picks it should be a sure fire pick to take Daniels at 3rd.
Jerod Mayo Is Taking The Team In A Different Direction
Mayo has been very vocal about the fact that he will be very different from Bill and that the team will need to completely revamp the offensive side of the ball. The defense should be one of the best in the league but the offense needs a lot of work all over the place.
If the team does take Daniels with their first pick, they will then have to focus on their offensive line and skill players to round out the offense. Rhamondre Stevenson has been vocal about wanting more of a roll and with a rookie starting quarterback he should be leaned on heavily. But you can only run and pass the ball with a solid offensive line so the team will have to help the Oline as well before next season.
I'm told Jayden Daniels is a guy Bill Belichick loved and was at the top of their draft board. Does Jerod Mayo love him too? #Patriots pic.twitter.com/vQrs8Ry2cI
