The New England Patriots are sitting nice with the number 3 overall pick for this years draft. In a year with many notable top quarterback prospects, it appears that the team is going to draft a quarterback with that pick. Where does that leave first round pick Mac Jones for the 2024 season? The new regime in New England is seemingly moving on from Mac.
New England Patriots May Be Done With Mac Jones
The new Patriots general manager Eliot Wolf had a lot of interesting comments in his recent interview about Mac. He seemed to take a clear shot at the quarterback by highlighting the importance of “body language on the field” for the quarterback position. He then said that he doesn’t want to see a quarterback “throwing his hands up in the air” after a bad play.
“Body language on the field is very important at that position. You don’t want a guy that’s throwing his hands up after a bad play or you can see him physically pointing at someone,” Wolf said.
There are many examples of Mac showing his rage with the team as he struggled big time over the last two seasons. To his defense, he did have awful talent around him and had a defensive coordinator calling offensive plays.
Who Will Start At Quarterback For The Patriots In 2024
While it has now been reported that the team is set to meet with all the top 3 prospects in this years draft at the quarterback position, it is very hard to tell who will be the starter for the team next year. It appears that Wolf and the Patriots will say goodbye to Mac Jones as their starter. Mac deserves another chance for another team who was not such a mess the last three years.
It is crazy what Mac had to go through in just three years. He went from a Pro Bowler, and on eof the top rookies in the league to perhaps not even having a job in 2024. May be he can be a backup, but not a starter.
