One of the most bizarre plays of all-time occurred last week when the conference rival Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers played last week. Prior to the game, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was talking trash as per the usual with Philadelphia fans and players which only heightened the nerves of everyone involved.
Then the biggest confrontation of the game was when 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw suplexed a Philadelphia ball carrier out of bounds. It was a bizarre play that looked more like a professional wrestling match then a football game. Everyone, including head of security Dom DiSandro, went after Greenlaw which has sparked significant controversy for the last week.
The Eagles Big Man takes his punishment
As punishment for his actions in the Greenlaw Incident, DiSandro received his punishment on Saturday morning. The NFL has decided to ban the security chief from the Eagles sideline for the game against the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday. To emphasize the levity of the penalty, DiSandro will still be allowed to travel to Dallas and complete all of his responsibilities to the team but he won’t be permitted to physically attend the game.
The decision to barr the Eagles employee is clearly an attempt by the league to dissuade any other individual on a sideline to interface with opposing players. I personally believe that DiSandro is being vilified by the league because if you actually watch the video, DiSandro picks up the Eagles Player and then is confronted by Greenlaw.
It is clear that DiSandro is more of an example by the league to prevent anything similar from happening in the future. AKA to prevent anyone from realizing how much the league is absolutely loving all of the publicity. After all, the NFL has essentially become the WWE at this point with the ridiculous level of drama in every play.
