The Philadelphia Eagles have devastating injury news ahead of their Week 7 game against the New York Giants. The contest on Sunday will be notable for former Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who will play in New York for the first time as a member of the Eagles.
A big game for the Philadelphia Eagles
The 3-2 Eagles need to gain some momentum in the NFC playoff hunt. To do so, they’ll need to knock off a 2-3 Giants team that has been plagued by inconsistent play this season.
The Eagles will be without a key offensive lineman to block for Barkley when they play the Giants.
Jordan Mailata on injured reserve
Per a statement by the Eagles, the team is playing starting left tackle Jordan Mailata on injured reserve. He is battling a hamstring injury.

The seventh-round pick for the Eagles in the 2018 draft has been a staple for Philadelphia, making 62 starts in 67 appearances. Per Pro Football Focus, Mailata has an 88.4 overall grade for his play this season.
With Mailata on injured reserve, the Eagles are expected to start Fred Johnson at left tackle. The undrafted free agent out of Florida has appeared in 50 NFL games and started in nine. He’s been with the Eagles since the 2022 season.
