The 2024 NFL draft is coming up next month, and as the countdown continues teams in the AFC East are evaluating their options for first-round selections. This division is still as highly competitive as ever right now and this draft is a pivotal moment for teams to improve their rosters even more, and address key areas of need, some teams are in need of prospects who can make an immediate impact for their team. The 2024 draft class offers a plethora of talent, so let’s dive in and see what the best option is in the first round for each AFC East team.
NFL Draft Is Crucial For The Bills To Piece Together An Even Better Roster To Finally Quit Disappointing
The Buffalo Bills keep having heartbreak season, after heartbreak season, after heartbreak season. How can the Bills change things around? Well analysts like Mel Kiper Jr from ESPN , and Daniel Jeremiah from NFL.com have defensive players like cornerback T.J. Tampa, or defensive tackle Jer’Zahn Newton going first round for Buffalo. This is understandable with the loss of a couple of key players due to their cap situation, like the loss of safety Jordan Poyer to the Dolphins, and the loss of center Mitch Morse to the Jaguars.
Now the biggest need for the Bills going into the offseason was at the wide receiver position since the departure of Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars. While quarterback Josh Allen still has star receiver Stefon Diggs, he could still use more offensive weapons to help this Buffalo Bills offense. The question is: did they get that when they signed Curtis Samuel from the Washington Commanders?
They did get a star in Curtis Samuel, but they need to take advantage of all this receiving talent in this 2024 draft class. Just like Ben Solak from The Ringer, or Trevor Sikkema from PFF, the Bills need to select Texas wide receiver Adonai Michell, or LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. That way they get a young talented wide receiver they can develop and actually be better than Gabe Davis, and they’ll need a start if Diggs decides he’s done in Buffalo.
New York Jets Draft To Become Better In 2024 As They Restart From A Very Unfortunate 2023 Season
Now the New York Jets currently hold the 10th pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and since they had such a rough and unfortunate 2023 season they need to capitalize on this 10th pick while they have it. Now the Jets’ situation is they are all-in with their veteran quarterback, and they’ve added great players to the offensive line, so the question is what now? How do the Jets maximize their roster with this 10th pick? Some people like Daniel Jeremiah think the Jets should actually try and trade up and go for another star receiver like Marvin Harrison, Jr.
While that could be a great move I agree with analyst Mel Kiper Jr or The Athletic NFL Staff of The Athletic, I think the best move for the New York Jets in the 2024 draft is to draft tight end Brock Bowers from Georgia. This adds another perfect weapon to maximize their quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the short period they have him and Bowers can make an immediate impact for this team in 2024 to turn things around just like how they wanted to last year when they signed Rodgers.
All Signs Point To The Miami Dolphins Drafting Defensive Player In Round One
The Miami Dolphins hold the 21st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and with their roster loaded with talent what do they do to add to that? The Dolphins seem to be fine on offense, but with the Dolphins forced to let go of Christian Wilkins, the release of Xavien Howard, and center Connor Williams still an unsigned free agent this team needs to get this defense sharpened up and ready to go come fall time.
The common theme among analysts such as Bucky Brooks from NFL.com, Chris Trapasso from CBS Sport, and Mike Tannenbaum from ESPN, is to draft a center with the 21st pick. Specifically center Jackson Powers-Johnson from Oregon. This is the perfect selection for the Dolphins. The Dolphins need to beef up the offensive line, and someone who can effectively snap the ball to Tagovailoa. Keeping a firm pocket for Tua Tagovailoa is critical for the Dolphins’ success.
The Only Question The Patriots Need to Ask For The Draft Is Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels?
The New England Patriots currently have the number-three pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and there’s no question they need a good quarterback in place of Mac Jones to get this team going again. The only question is which one: Drake Maye from North Carolina or Jayden Daniels From LSU? Or, do the Patriots trade that third-overall pick for a superstar to turn things around in New England?
The Patriots will receive lucrative offers for their pick, but they need to address the most important position and they can with this pick. Some analysts like Ryan Wilson, and Field Yates of ESPN think it should be Drake Maye. Some analysts like Jordan Reid of ESPN, and Josh Edwards of CBS Sports think it should be Jayden Daniels. The only predicament is Jayden Daniels is projected to be taken second by the Washington commanders.
If the Commanders take Jayden Daniels they shouldn’t take Drake Maye, heck they shouldn’t even trade down with this pick, but instead do what some analysts like Pete Prisco of CBS, or Bucky Brooks from ESPN are saying and actually go after J.J. McCarthy, especially after his stellar pro day performance. Could another Michigan quarterback take the reigns and turn this team into the dynasty it once was under the previous Michigan legend Tom Brady?
