The New York Jets have had many criticisms this year regarding their quarterback situation. Veteran Aaron Rodgers was injured on the first drive of the season, and it has been Zach Wilson as the starter since then. He has not played well, which has caused many fans and analysts to suggest that the Jets should sign a different quarterback. The team has reportedly decided on who will be their starter until Rodgers can come back.
Jets’ HC Robert Saleh told reporters today that he’s sticking with Zach Wilson as his starting QB. “He’s actually playing pretty well,” Saleh said.

Zach Wilson Controversy
Head coach Robert Saleh said that he is sticking with Wilson as his starting quarterback, and even said that “he’s actually playing pretty well.” Jets fans reacted furiously to these comments by the head coach, saying that Wilson has not been consistent enough to be a starter in this league. Wilson has not thrown a single touchdown pass in the team’s last two games against the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
Wilson has struggled throughout his career and has always been criticized for being a starting quarterback in the NFL. A mind-blowing stat went viral on Twitter touchdown after the Jets’ loss to the Raiders on Sunday Night Football showing how poor Wilson’s play has been. Since entering the league, he has thrown a touchdown on just 20 of his 931 career passes, which is the lowest rate (2.1%) in NFL history among players with at least 900 passes.
This is not ideal: Zach Wilson has thrown a touchdow on just 𝟮𝟬 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝟵𝟯𝟭 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀.
His 2.1% touchdown rate is the 𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗙𝗟 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 among players with at least 900 passes.

New York Jets Struggles
So far this season, Wilson has just five touchdown passes through 10 weeks of the 2023 season and has thrown for 1,863 yards. He has not had a game that he has thrown for 300 yards this year, causing a lot of fans in New York and around the NFL world to question the Jets’ decision to keep him as the starter. They will face off against the Buffalo Bills next week, who they actually beat in the first game of the season after a miracle punt return touchdown.
New York is 4-5 on the season and currently sitting in third place in the AFC East. The Jets will continue to roll with Wilson as their starting quarterback until Rodgers returns, and fans and analysts alike are scratching their heads wondering why Saleh continues to say Wilson has been playing well when the reality is he hasn’t.
