The New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters after the team’s 27-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers that the team is not making any changes at the quarterback position Saleh will continue to roll with Zach Wilson as his play-caller until Aaron Rodgers can come back from his injury. Wilson has been struggling all season long, and Jets fans have had enough of him as the starter.

Zach Wilson’s Struggles
New York has had a very up-and-down season this year, and a lot of that has to do with the poor quarterback play by Wilson. Through nine weeks this year, Wilson has gone for 1,600 passing yards and just five touchdowns along with five interceptions. He has not had one game in 2023 where he has thrown for 300 yards or more and has received a lot of criticism because of it.
A big reason the Jets are 4-4 and have won some big games is their star-studded defense, which ranks amongst the top of the league. However, in Monday’s blowout loss to the Chargers, it was apparent that the team cannot rely on the defense every single game if they want to establish winning football, and the issues on offense need to be addressed immediately.
New York Jets Fans React
Wilson has been the starter since Rodgers went down with a torn Achilles in week one and will be the solidified starter for the rest of the season until Rodgers is ready to go. Jets fans and NFL analysts including Stephen A. Smith reacted to the controversial statement by Saleh on Twitter, and let’s just say that the fans are not happy that Wilson is still starting.
Zach Wilson has been the worst starting quarterback in the NFL for three *years* but still plays week after week without any threat of benching.

Is Zach Wilson the worst starting QB in the NFL right now ✈️ pic.twitter.com/j9QzQ84pcj

The Jets refusing to acknowledge that Zach Wilson is not an NFL starter is going to be their downfall.
Had a chance to acquire Joshua Dobbs, Jameis Winston, Jacoby Brissett, Andy Dalton, or another veteran to challenge for a starting role.
& they did absolutely nothing.

Good lord! @stephenasmith absolutely tore into #Jets QB Zach Wilson after the loss to the #Chargers:
‘He’s scared for a different reason, the brother know he ain’t ready, he know he don’t belong where he is, he know he doesn’t deserve to be the starting quarterback for a… pic.twitter.com/736N1JP6rJ

The Jets should listen to all of these critics and make a move at quarterback if they plan to make the postseason. Multiple teams that have had injuries to their starting quarterbacks have made moves to keep their momentum going, like the Minnesota Vikings signing Joshua Dobbs, and the Los Angeles Rams just signed Carson Wentz. If the Jets do not establish the issues at the quarterback position quickly, New York is going to have a hard time winning games this season.
