The Michigan Wolverines have questions at quarterback for 2024. J.J. McCarthy is headed to the NFL after only losing one game during his tenure under center. One candidate to replace him is a player with a lot of experience. Quarterback Jake Tuttle was granted a seventh year of eligibility by the NCAA on Saturday.

Tuttle announced his return on social media yesterday. After playing four years at Indiana, he came to Ann Arbor. He only played in six games this season but played well. He completed 15 passes on 17 attempts for 130 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came against his former team in a 52-7 win. He will compete with Alex Orji and possibly freshman Jaydn Davis for the starting spot.
Could Tuttle Start?
Anything is possible at this point. We have very little insight into what new head coach Sherrone Moore is thinking. However, Tuttle’s presence will be beneficial regardless. If the Wolverines decide to start a younger prospect, Tuttle can help coach and guide. If an injury happens, having a quality backup is never a bad thing for a program. Having won the national championship this season, the program has some grace to figure some things out.
This is a small boost for the Michigan Wolverines. His impact may not show up on the stat sheet, but he will be valuable for the Wolverines in 2024.
