The former Pro Bowl receiver Randall Cobb has officially decided to step away from the game at 33 years old, after quite the career. He announced his retirement on Thursday, and he coupled that announcement with his new job.
NFL Receiver Randall Cobb Is Set To Work In The Booth
Cobb and ESPN made the announcement that he will be moving on to his next job this upcoming season, and it iwll not be on the field. Cobb will be entering the ESPN broadcasting booth for college football this year.
ESPN announced the hire on Thursday morning.
Former NFL Pro Bowler Randall Cobb is set to join SEC Network as a college football studio analyst. Cobb played in the NFL for 13 seasons, including 10 years with the Green Bay Packers. He will appear on select editions of SEC Now throughout the fall and will also join co-host Alyssa Lang on Out of Pocket Presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors to fuse football and fun each week.
Cobb also released his own statement, sharing his excitement for the new opportunity:
“I am incredibly excited to be coming home to the SEC with this new role,” said Cobb. “The level of greatness this conference provides year after year is unmatched – I cannot wait return to the conference family with this SEC Network crew.”
Cobb has always been known as a very clever football player on and off the field, and he should bring a lot fo great analysis to the game and tot he booth. Playing with Aaron Rodgers for many years will also be helpful for Cobb in his new career.
NFL Fans Congratulate Randall Cobb On New Job
Green Bay fans, and fans in general were quick to social media to congratulate Cobb on and incredible NFL career, and congratulate him on his new job for 2024 and beyond.
“What a great hire! Randall is a no brainer for the SEC Network,” Max Godby wrote.
“In my time of covering the SEC, haven’t seen a player who could do more things at a high level than Cobb at Kentucky and had the smarts to do it,” ESPN’s Chris Low said. “Ultimate multi-tasker. Great addition to the ESPN team.”
“He’ll be GREAT at this,” a fan predicted.
“Great player, and an even better man,” a fan wrote. “Loved him on the field and I’ll support him on his new adventure.”
The Kentucky star registered 35 touchdowns before entering the NFL with the Packers in 2011. His NFL career boasted some incredible stats as well, as he totaled; 630 catches for 7,624 yards and 54 touchdowns in 166 career games.
He was most notably a Green Bay Packer, where he spent a decade of his career, and became one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets.
It is clearly exciting for many fans to get to see Cobb continue his career in football moving forward. We congratulate Cobb on an incredible career as well, and wish him nothing but success in his future!
