The Michigan Wolverines are looking to keep their dominance of the Big Ten going in 2024. They will have to do it without a lot of their coaching staff from last year. Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL, and many coordinators went with him. One coaching position that has been open for a while is the linebacker’s coach. Chris Partridge was fired in November, and he was never replaced. New head coach Sherrone Moore hired former Tennessee Volunteers coach Brian Jean-Mary to be the next linebackers coach.

Jean-Mary will serve as the linebackers coach as well as the defensive run game coordinator. This will be his second stint in Ann Arbor. He was with the team in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic season. Jean-Mary left to coach in Knoxville and has been there ever since. He is a master recruiter. Junior Colson and Jaydon Hood were both recruited by Jean-Mary. Being from Florida, he is familiar with the southern part of the country.
Don’t Count Michigan Out
While Michigan is losing many of its core players, I wouldn’t count this team out. Sherrone Moore has been able to assemble a talented staff and so far, very few players have changed their minds on the program. In fact, momentum on the recruiting trail seems to be just fine. Bringing in Jean-Mary will be a huge help on the trail. He has proven he can bring in top-tier talent and will likely do it again.
The Michigan Wolverines hope people count them out in 2024. They would be happy to surprise people and show it wasn’t just Harbaugh who made the team successful.
