It looks like Santa came early for the Joyous Miami Dolphins prior to Week 13

The Miami Dolphins have loads to be joyous about heading into December.

Throughout the course of the season, the Miami Dolphins have been making headlines for their potent offense (particularly after coming close to breaking the single-game scoring record against the Denver Broncos).  With the holidays coming up, it looks like one of the key members of the Miami Dolphins offense is taking it to heart.

Generous Gift from a Dolphins Superstar

In a clip posted by the Miami Dolphins social media team, the Dolphins entered the stadium to find an electric scooter for each player with their name on it.  The generous benefactor responsible for the gifts: none other than Dolphins superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Hill spoke to the social media team afterwards and said “I don’t owe nobody nothing for the rest of the year,”

While these may be multimillion dollar athletes with all of the possessions in the world, the video shows a group of people joyously ripping the bows off their gifts and thanking their teammate.  The Miami Dolphins players immediately took off riding around the stadium hallways on the scooters.  There were also gift bags for each teammate that included a variety of things including wireless speakers.

Every team published feel-good content on their social media pages but this seems like a particularly effective campaign by the Miami Dolphins entering the holiday season.

    Repeated Generosity from Tyreek Hill

While this is a magnanimous gift idea and public relations stunt by Tyreek Hill, this isn’t the first time the all-pro receiver has made headlines for his generosity lately.  Just a few days ago, Hill agreed to pay the full salary of photographer Kevin Fitzgibbons after he had his field license revoked for assisting Hill with a touchdown celebration following a Week 6 score against the Carolina Panthers.  The suspension was seen as particularly egregious after the NFL used the event as promotional material.

Fitzgibbons has since come out and provided his side of events: indicating that he and Hill have collaborated previously and had planned the celebration ahead of time.

Fitzgibbons addressed reporters and said “They said regardless if I knew the celebration was coming or not, I still had to be disciplined and that I shouldn’t have jumped on the sidelines after the play,  One of the best moments of my life turned upside down in a matter of seconds. I get why the NFL had to make this decision and wish I could’ve done something to prevent it, but I’m thankful for the memory Tyreek gave me.”

Fitzgibbons and Hill will likely collaborate again in the future following both the puzzling decision by the league to suspend the photographer and the honorable act of Hill to reimburse him.

While he is making some exceptional headlines off of the field this week, Tyreek Hill has a lot to celebrate going into Christmas from what is looking to be a historic season.  Tyreek is leading the league is receiving yardage (1324) receiving touchdowns (10).  He is also third in receptions (88) as he looks to compete for the elusive wide receiver triple crown this season and also break the all time receiving yards record set by Calvin Johnson in 2012 (1964).

Tyreek Hill would become one of only four receivers to accomplish the triple crown feat in the modern era joining Jerry Rice (1990), Sterling Sharpe (1992), Steve Smith (2005) and most recently Cooper Kupp in 2021.  With only six games to go, Hill trails behind Keenan Allen (97) and CeeDee Lamb (90) in receptions.  It is important to note that Lamb has a game in hand after the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.  As long as Hill records two receptions this week against the Washington Commanders, he will retake second place from Lamb and could potentially make another dent into Allen’s lead.

Hill has formed an excellent connection with Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa over the past two seasons following his trade from the Kansas City Chiefs.  Last season, Tyreek Hill finished the season second in receiving yards (1,710) and looks to top that number in 2023.  It is important to note that Hill’s numbers last season finished lower than expected due to the numerous concussions of Tagovailoa.

Entering the month of December, the Miami Dolphins hold a 1.5 game lead over Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.  Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins will look to lock up the division with a fairly easy back third of a schedule (only two of the remaining six teams the Dolphins play will have winning records.)
