Tyreek Hill was in a race for fitness ahead of the Miami Dolphins’ Week 15 matchup against the New York Jets. Ultimately, the four-time All-Pro wide receiver was unable to recover from an ankle injury he suffered on Monday night.
Hill did not take the field on Sunday as the Dolphins decimated the Jets 30-0.
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill a Late Scratch Vs. Jets
There was some optimism that Hill would be able to give it a go on Sunday against New York. The ankle injury he suffered in Miami’s heartbreaking 28-27 loss against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 was not considered overly serious, which meant that the 29-year-old had a good shot at suiting up against the Jets.
Be that as it may, Hill ended up sidelined against New York. In fact, some rumors indicated that it was Hill’s own decision not to play — a report that has now been refuted by NFL insider Mike Florio of PFT:
“Although it was characterized in some circles as a close call, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that Hill could not have played today,” Florio wrote.
Will Tyreek Hill Play Vs. Dallas Cowboys
Up next for the Dolphins is a Week 16 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. At this point, it appears that Hill will be available for that marquee matchup:
“Next Sunday, however, it could be a different story. Per the source, it’s currently likely that Hill will play,” Florio wrote.
While there is no official word on Hill’s availability against Dallas, the above report seems to indicate that he will be good to go — barring any unforeseen setbacks, of course.
