BREAKING: Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle to Receive MASSIVE Contract Extension

The Miami Dolphins are known for having one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL. Ever since his debut in 2021, Jaylen Waddle has garnered a lot of attention with the Dolphins.

Now, it appears he is going to get rewarded for his efforts in his first three years in the NFL. What does Waddle’s new contract look like? Read below to find out.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Miami Dolphins and WR Jaylen Waddle have agreed to a three-year contract extension. Waddle is expected to receive $84.75 million in that stretch. Of that $84.75 million, about $76 million will be guaranteed for Waddle.

Just how significant is this? It will make Waddle one of the five highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. Ironically, Waddle’s teammate, Tyreek Hill, is one of the only wide receivers who still makes more money annually than Waddle.

Reviewing Jaylen Waddle’s Career

It is fair to think that Waddle must have put up big numbers to earn this type of contract. Some may argue this contract is paying Waddle for his potential upside. However, Waddle has had notable production during his Dolphins tenure.

For starters, he has had over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. Plus, Waddle is averaging six touchdown receptions per season. Combine this with 251 receptions, you can see how vital Waddle is for the Dolphins’ offense.

One thing the Dolphins had to consider before drafting Waddle was how healthy he would be entering the NFL. He suffered a severe ankle injury during his final year in Alabama. Yet, the Dolphins still selected Waddle sixth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins Moving Forward

So, what can we expect from the Dolphins now? This contract should ensure Miami has one of the best wide receiver units in the NFL, especially with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. in the offseason. However, the Dolphins still have a potential out for their contract with Tyreek Hill in 2025.

On top of this, there is a lot of discussion as to whether the Dolphins give QB Tua Tagovailoa a massive contract extension. With both of their top wide receivers paid, he is likely going to be the next big player that the Dolphins focus on locking in moving forward.
