Memphis Tiger Transfer
January Update: This is a summary of the skill positions. The reason is this: the Memphis Tigers have a large number of incoming transfers. (This is because they have an equally large number of outgoing transfers). Long story short: Sutton Smith, 3rd string RB stayed. Among the receivers who stayed is not one who caught double-figure passes this year.
Memphis Tiger Transfer (Offense)
The most recent and most high profile is Corey Gammage 3-star WR from Marshall. He had a great 2022 season, with 52 receptions and 774 yards, and his career year with 6 TD receptions.
Wide Receiver Chritauskie Dove from Missouri Tigers is transferring to the Tigers. Last years stats: 16 receptions, 240 yards, and 1 touchdown. Even though decent stats, these were a step down from his previous year.
RB Ketravion Hargrove from Mississippi State was a 3-star recruit. He redshirted in the 2022 season.
Demeer Blankumsee is transferring to Memphis. 2022 season he had 3 yds 512 yards 41 receptions, operating as the #2 receiver. Here’s the link to a clip of him in action.
Memphis Tiger Transfer (Defense)
Malik Feaster is a transfer from Jacksonville State. Here’s the summary from when he came to JSU. He had played previously at Jacksonville State University, suffering a brutal leg injury in a spring 2021 game. (h/t to an excellent feature story by The Tocoa Record). Malik Feaster had 1 tackle in 4 games in Sept 2022. Malik did not play in October forward.
Chandler Martin LB, a 3 star from ETSU in 2022. He coincidentally announced his transfer on his birthday.

Chandler Martin was at times a monster on the defense for ETSU in the Southern Conference. You can read here about his epic week in September 2022. (h/t Southern Conference player of the Week announcement).
Safety Simeone Blair was a team captain for the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 2022 season. He joined the transfer portal after a productive season with the Arkansas defense.
Jaylen Johnson is an incoming defensive end transfer from Florida Atlantic University. (I gave a rundown of his outstanding stats in an earlier article here on Gridiron Heroics.) Long story short, he will be hugely impactful, especially with the Memphis Tiger transfer portal losses.
Memphis Tiger Transfer (Undecided)
There is still an opportunity for Memphis Tiger football players that have entered the transfer portal to re-sign with the Tigers. If the Tigers offer them a scholarship for the upcoming year there is no penalty for having explored their choices. Also, if a Memphis Tiger (and there’s about six of them) declares by January 18 and then doesn’t like their options, they can return to Memphis.
There are 2-3 high-level Tigers still not declared for a transfer school (according to www.on3.com , )most notably WR Cameron Wright and Backup QB JC French. The opportunity is there to re-assess a situation, and for skill positions especially a player may determine that their role might be larger after huge losses to the transfer portal.
