The omission of the Florida State Seminoles in the College Football Playoff continues to turn heads, including that of LSU Tigers star quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Heisman favorite spoke to USA Today Sports on Wednesday, sharing his thoughts on why the committee picked the Alabama Crimson Tide over the Seminoles last Sunday.

LSU’s Jayden Daniels Takes Issue with CFP
Daniels, talking to USA Today Sports, did not mince words about why the College Football Playoff committee picked the Alabama Crimson Tide over the Florida State Seminoles.
When pressed, Daniels said, “We played them in Week 1, and losing Jordan (Travis) was a big deal for Florida State. I personally think they did it for ratings and viewership.”
Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending knee injury in his team’s Week 12 win over North Alabama. He was amid a Heisman-caliber season, throwing for 20 touchdowns against two picks in 11 games. He also added seven scores on the ground. Travis had 342 yards passing and four touchdowns against the Tigers in the season opener. The Florida State offense struggled under a new signal-caller, specifically third-string gunslinger Brock Glenn, in the ACC Championship.
Daniels continued, “Prayers out to Jordan and everything he is going through right now. It is not his fault, and you can’t control stuff like that. Florida State will get what they deserve at some point.”
Meanwhile, Daniels is the Heisman Trophy Award favorite after a stellar 2023 campaign. The fifth-year senior threw 40 touchdowns against four picks while completing 72.2% of his passes. He also scampered for a ludicrous 1,134 yards and ten scores on the ground.
Florida State Seminoles: Left Out of College Football Playoff Despite Going Undefeated
The Florida State Seminoles became the first Power 5 team in the College Football Playoff era to miss out on a chance to win a national title despite going undefeated and winning their conference. Instead, the committee picked the one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide to round out the four-team field. Alabama lost to the Texas Longhorns earlier in the year and almost fell to the Auburn Tigers in the regular season finale but beat juggernaut Georgia in the SEC Championship. Meanwhile, FSU’s offense struggled in a 16-6 win over the Louisville Cardinals in their respective conference title game.
