longtime NFL executive assistant Veronica Ibarra, who worked for the Denver Broncos, recently passed away.
Ibarra was 55-years-old at the time of her passing, which was caused by cancer.
Veronica Ibarra worked for the Denver Broncos for decades
Veronica Ibarra joined the Denver Broncos as an assistant in 1996. Ibarra was loyal to the Broncos and also served as an assistant for Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen’s family.
Because she became a part of the Denver Broncos organization in 1996, Ibarra was present for the glory years featuring the likes of legends such as John Elway, Shannon Sharpe and Terrell Davis.
The Denver Broncos won the 1997 and 1998 Super Bowl just after Ibarra became a part of the organization. Ibarra was not only present for those championships, but she was also present for the 2015 Super Bowl won with Peyton Manning at the helm meaning she was there for every Super Bowl win in Denver Broncos history.
Veronica Ibarra worked for the Denver Broncos through her battle with cancer
Despite being diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer, Ibarra continued to work hard for the Broncos. Former co-worker Lisa Williams explained the type of person she was and what kind of job she did in an article from The Spun.
“She was a one of a kind,’’ her former co-worker, Lisa Williams, said of her passing. “You didn’t pull the wool over her. Her primary focus was to make sure Pat’s family was taken care of. Bills are paid. Help them with car insurance, or getting their car. Or getting the lease right for their apartments. She did everything like a parent would do. Get it done.”
Williams explained that Ibarra didn’t stop working despite the difficult battle she was undergoing.
“Here’s one thing about Veronica – she’s in the hospital and she’s still working on her computer, doing work,’’ Williams said. “’Veronica does the family know?’ No. They don’t need to know, yet.’ ‘Veronica, you should not be working!’ ‘I’ve got to get it done.’ That was her mentality.”
Fan support for Denver Broncos front office mainstay Veronica Ibarra flooded social media
Despite having a role that was not in the spotlight by any means, many Broncos fans understood Ibarra’s importance to the organization.
Several Denver fans took to social media to share their condolences for the passing of the longtime Broncos executive assistant.
