The LSU football team may not be in a title game this weekend, but that hasn’t stopped the program from going on the offensive regarding their Heisman front-running quarterback. Per LSU’s official Twitter account (also known as X), the Tigers have purchased a billboard in Las Vegas, Nevada, promoting quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The billboard’s location is essential given that fellow Heisman Trophy front-runner Bo Nix will lead the Oregon Ducks in battle against the Washington Huskies in the Pac-12 Championship at Allegiant Stadium, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. The billboard reads, “That kid Jayden,” with the LSU social media team calling Daniels the “Best player in college football.”
The Case for and Against LSU Football QB Jayden Daniels to Win the Heisman Trophy Award
Statistically, Jayden Daniels has shined for LSU this year. The ASU transfer has posted gaudy numbers in his second season with the Tigers, passing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns against four interceptions. He has completed 72% of his passes while rushing for 885 yards and 11 scores. LSU averaged 46.4 points per game with Daniels under center, the most by any team in the NCAA. He also played well against top competition. The six-foot-three gunslinger went 27-of-36 for 414 yards and four scores in a road game against Ole Miss. He also ran for 99 yards and a touchdown, but the Tigers fell 55-49. He also accounted for 382 yards and three touchdowns in a road loss against Alabama.
The main factor playing against Daniels is his team’s record. LSU finished the regular season 9-3 and won’t participate in this weekend’s SEC Championship. The last Heisman Trophy Award Winner to have at least three losses in the regular season was Lamar Jackson of Louisville in 2016.
Oregon Ducks QB Bo Nix: The Betting Favorite to Win the Heisman Trophy Award
Nix, who will play in the Pac-12 Championship on Friday with a Jayden Daniels billboard just miles away, is the odds-on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. He has been one of the most effective quarterbacks this season, throwing for 3,906 yards and 37 touchdowns against two picks. He has completed nearly 79% of his passes while rushing for six touchdowns. A win against an undefeated Washington Huskies in the Pac-12 Championship squad would likely lock up his Heisman candidacy.
