The Las Vegas Raiders are known for doing some crazy things in the NFL Draft, and they did something very crazy that was pretty shocking to many people with their first-round pick in this year’s draft.
A New Era In Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Raiders are heading into a new era with their new head coach, Antonio Pierce, who served as the interim head coach last season when Josh McDaniels was fired and then received the permanent job this winter along with new general manager Tom Telesco.
The two were going into the first NFL Draft with each other at sat with the 13th overall pick, and of course, the most prominent position of need was quarterback, but six would go before they drafted, and the Raiders turned to the best available player at that moment.
Brock Bowers Was The Selection At Pick 13
The Raiders would select Georgia’s tight end Brock Bowers with the 13th overall pick, which was fantastic. Bowers was hands down the best tight end in college football last season and should be a guy you plug in the next ten years and will be a Pro-Bowler for most of those seasons, but there was the chance that Las Vegas would’ve never ended up with Bowers if the coin they flipped landed the wrong way.
Terrion Arnold Was Almost The Pick For The Las Vegas Raiders
Alabama star cornerback Terrion Arnold was selected in the first round by the Detroit Lions, but there was a good chance the Las Vegas Raiders would’ve chosen him. He was on The Next Round Live Show and stated he got a call from the Raiders after the draft and told them that they had a coin toss between him and Bowers to see who they would pick at 13, and it landed on the tight end from Georgia.
Terrion Arnold says the #Raiders called him after the draft to let him know they had a coin flip between him and Brock Bowers at No. 13.

What a crazy story that the Las Vegas Raiders would flip a coin between the two players to see who they should take. Hopefully, the coin will be right for them, and Bowers will be a long-time great in the NFL because we all know what will happen if Bowers becomes a bust and Arnold becomes one of the best corners in the league.
