Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl 58 Parade Shooting: Taylor Swift Donates Massive Amount of Money to Family of Slain DJ

The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory parade was the site of a horrendous mass shooting on Wednesday. A dispute between several people from different groups of attendees turned violent, with guns being drawn and shots fired. By the end of the terrible scene, 22 people (including nine children) were taken to the hospital with gunshot injuries.

Unfortunately, one other person, a local Kansas City DJ named Lisa Lopez-Galvan, was killed. According to Deadline, three of the other people that were wounded were members of Lopez’s family.

Three suspects were taken into custody and the city started the mourning process. Multiple Chiefs players posted their thoughts, prayers, support, and desire to help on social media. A GoFundMe was also established to provide aid to Lopez’s family in the wake of the tragedy. The goal was to raise $75,000 to help them with funeral and medical expenses.

Thanks to Taylor Swift, the pop singer who is dating Chiefs Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce, they will have a lot more than that.

Taylor Swift Donates $100,000 to Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting Victim’s Family

According to The New York Post, Swift sent two separate donations of $50,000 to the GoFundMe, which as of this writing has raised over $182,000 for the family. Swift left a message as well:

“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift.”

Lopez-Galvan was just 43 years old and the mother of two children. Her husband and children were in attendance at the parade with her. According to CNN, one of the nine children injured in the shooting was her son.

A statement from her family read:

“We thank the community for their prayers and support during this difficult time. We are heartbroken with the loss of our loved one … who was an amazing mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many.”

“We ask to please keep our family in your prayers as we grieve the loss of Lisa’s death while also supporting our other loved ones who were impacted in this senseless act,”
