Notable Kansas City Chiefs fan, who is known as Chiefsaholic on Twitter/X, pleaded guilty to a string of bank robberies in a federal court Wednesday.
Xavier Babudar amassed a significant following on social media as a Chiefs “superfan.” Babudar became known for the wolf mask he would wear when attending Chiefs games. He listened to the team’s third Super Bowl run on a radio while awaiting his trial.
Kansas City Chiefs fan admitted to his crimes
A U.S. attorney explained the gravity of the crimes Babudar committed in a news release from an ESPN article.
“His violent crime spree across the Midwest and beyond traumatized bank employees and victimized financial institutions in seven states,” U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore said in a news release. “The defendant tried to conceal hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen cash by using it to gamble online and at casinos, but the odds caught up with him. With today’s conviction, he will be held accountable for the full scope of his criminal conduct, including his attempt to flee from justice.”
Babadur stole more than $800,000 in 11 different bank robberies. He tried to launder the money through casinos and he also transported the money across state lines.
Babadur faces up to 50 years in prison and he owes over $532,000 in restitution. His attorney, Matthew Merryman, praised Babadur for standing up and admitting what he did in the same ESPN article.
“Today was a big day for Xaviar Babudar,” Merryman said. “He took responsibility for his actions. He stood up in court, humble and repentant, and admitted what he had done. … Moving from 20 charges down to three charges, it was an opportunity. Xaviar Babudar would never physically harm anyone.”

The news of the plea of the famous Kansas City follower accompanied a lot of big news for Chiefs fans. Wide receiver Marques Valdes-Scantling was released and star cornerback L’Jarious Sneed was franchise tagged.

Along with the massive restitution bill, Babudar was ordered to forfeit any property acquired with the ill-gotten funds. This includes a signed painting from star quarterback Patrick Mahomes that he purchased at a charity auction. Babadur’s attorney explained that taking a plea deal brought the charges down from 20 to three.
