The Kansas City Chiefs started the day celebrating their Super Bowl LVIII victory. Unfortunately, tragedy struck with a shooting that took place during the parade. While the focus is rightfully on the victims, there was a message from Chiefs DT Chris Jones before that happened. Read below to find out what that is.
Chris Jones Wants to Stay With Chiefs
You can argue Jones was emotional about the Super Bowl victory. Regardless, he had a clear message to Chiefs fans during the Super Bowl victory parade. Here is what he had to say:
“I ain’t going nowhere, baby!” -Chris Jones
Contract Issues With Kansas City Chiefs
Earlier in the season, there was a contract issue between Jones and the Chiefs. It got to the point where he sat out the first game of the season to send a message to Kansas City. After the Chiefs lost their opening game to the Detroit Lions, they decided enough was enough. Kansas City was able to reach a temporary agreement with Jones.
Now, Jones is expected to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024. The franchise tag is unlikely to be an option considering how much more it would cost compared to his current salary. Kansas City has a decision to make as to whether or not they will keep him. However, Jones has now made it clear he wants to stay.
