Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was one of many members of the team that were not happy with the refs after Sunday’s game. The offensive offsides call on Kadarius Toney had both Patrick Mahomes and Reid heavily criticizing the call in the postgame interview. However, Reid made a stunning admission this morning and must have looked at some film overnight.
#Chiefs HC Andy Reid confirmed that Kadarius Toney did not check with the official to see if he was lined up correctly.
Reid says they will teach Toney to make sure to do that moving forward.

Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid Makes Admission About The Play
Reid admitted today that Toney did not check with the refs on alignment and that he was “two inches or an inch” offsides. The takeaway for Reid is that they need to coach the habit of checking the alignment with the refs with Toney and probably all the receivers. He went on to say that he wasn’t trying to make an excuse but was simply pointing out the fact that officials usually give a warning. For the refs, it was apparently so egregious that there was no choice but to call the penalty.
Frustration Boiling Over
This is what I thought would happen this morning. Last night was all about frustration boiling over. This kind of boneheaded miscue is what has plagued the Chiefs all season. Whether it is a dropped pass, a missed route, or an untimely penalty it is always something this season. It felt like both Mahomes and Reid were tired of having to deal with the lack of focus and took it out on the refs. It will be interesting to hear what Mahomes has to say about the situation now that Reid admitted Toney made the mistake.
Can the Kansas City Chiefs figure out how to eliminate the mistakes? They better or they may be making an early exit from the playoffs.
