The Chicago Bears have fallen to 1-5 on the season and quarterback Justin Fields left the game in the third quarter against the Minnesota Vikings with a hand injury. However, Jay Glazer of Fox reported that Justin Fields was trying to play despite the injury and actually dislocated his thumb.
Breaking: Bears QB Justin Fields dislocated his thumb today, popped it back in and he tried to play but was unable to grip ball. X-rays were negative but because of dislocation will need MRI tomorrow to find out full severity of damage @NFLonFOX

Despite not being able to grip the football, we do not have a timeline of how long the young quarterback will out of action for. He did not have a good game before the injury as he was 6-of-10 for 58 yards and an interception as well as rushing eight times for 46 yards. This loss keeps the Chicago Bears as having the top two picks in the 2024 NFL draft as they also own the Carolina Panthers first-round pick.
Week 6 was full of injuries throughout the slate of games with guys like Trevor Lawrence, Lane Johnson and Christian McCaffrey all ruled out during their respective games. This could be the end of the road for Justin Fields in a Chicago Bears jersey.
What will the Chicago Bears do with Justin Fields going forward?
The Chicago Bears having the top two picks in the upcoming NFL draft could be more valuable than seeing if the fourth year of Justin Fields will work. Teams trade away quarterbacks when they have a top pick as we saw with the New York Jets trading Sam Darnold.
The NFL Trade Deadline is on Halloween and that will be the last time this season the Bears can trade away Fields and get anything. At that point, the Bears could move on from the Ohio State product and continue to tank for USC quarterback Caleb Williams and get him someone like wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. or figure out a defensive option as well.
It’s not like Justin Fields is playing poorly by any stretch. On the season, he is 100-of-162 (61.7 completion percentage) for 1,201 yards with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. In his previous three games, he has an 8:2 touchdown-to-interception ratio as well.
In addition, he can run the ball effectively with 47 rushing attempts for 237 yards (5.0 yards per carry) with a rushing touchdown. He has the makings of a bottom-tier starting quarterback or an elite backup. This team has a good amount of talent and should be able to win games but it seems like the Chicago Bears are not able to pick up wins at a consistent basis and could cost Fields the ability to be a starting quarterback for the remainder of the season as the team tries to get the top two picks.
