Ohio State is heading into this year’s season with one of the best rosters in the country. Usually, when you have one of the best teams in college football, that means you recruited at a high level for many years, and even though the Buckeyes are getting ready for 2024, they are still looking toward the 2025 recruiting class and big name could be heading to Ohio State.
Ohio State Is Loaded At Running Back
For the last five seasons, since Ryan Day took over as head coach, the Buckeyes have been known as a quarterback school. Justin Fields and C. J. Stroud were first-round picks, and Dwayne Haskins was a first-round pick when Day served as the offensive coordinator in the 2018-2019 season.
For this season, the Buckeyes will have one of the best running back duos in the country, senior TreVeyon Henderson and Ole Miss transfer Quinshon Judkins.
The team from Columbus will push the rock on the ground this upcoming season, including transfer quarterback Will Howard, who can use his legs to pick up meaningful yards and scores.
The Buckeyes Are In Position To Land A Big Time Running Back
According to Bill Kurelic from the BuckNuts on 247sports.com, he has given 2025 four-star running back Jordon Davison a crystal ball to land with the Buckeyes.
Davison is from Santa Ana, California, and plays at Mater Dei High School. If Mater Dei sounds familiar, former Alabama and current Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young attended school there.
Per 247sports.com, Davison is the tenth-best running back in his class, and there were reports that Michigan could be interested in the talented back.
Carlos Locklyn Was Named The New Running Back Coach Last Month
Former Ohio State running back coach Tony Alford left the school in March to join their biggest rival, and then, when April hit, the Buckeyes hired Oregon’s running back coach Carlos Locklyn for the same position.
If Locklyn could land Davison, that would be a significant first move that many coaches couldn’t top. The Buckeyes running back room looks to be in good hands with Locklyn, and big things should be coming to Columbus this season.
