Bashaud Breeland Hasn’t Found New NFL Home Since Playing For Kansas City Chiefs

Obviously the legal issues don’t help, but Breeland never found his footing in the NFL since parting ways with Kansas City.
Coming off a productive campaign in 2019, the Chiefs signed Breeland to a one-year, $3 million contract that includes a signing bonus of $1.50 million for the 2020 season. He was suspended the first four games of the 2020 season for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse, and was placed on the reserve/suspended list on September 5. He was reinstated from suspension on October 6 and activated to the roster on October 10. Overall, he finished the 2020 season with 38 total tackles, two interceptions, nine passes defended, and one forced fumble.
Breeland signed with the Minnesota Vikings on June 8, 2021. He entered the 2021 season as a starting cornerback alongside Patrick Peterson. In Week 14, Breeland had eight tackles and intercepted quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in a 36–28 win over the Steelers.
On December 18, the former Kansas CIty Chiefs starter was waived by the Vikings after getting into a verbal altercation with coaches and teammates at practice earlier that day. He finished the 2021 season with 63 total tackles, two interceptions, five passes defended, and two forced fumbles.
On January 4, 2022, Breeland was signed to the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad. His contract expired when the team’s season ended on January 17 and he hasn’t played a NFL snap since.
He was a fourth-round draft pick by Washington out of Clemson in 2014 and played four seasons with them. He then spent a year in Green Bay with the Packers before his two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Breeland’s best NFL season came in 2019 where he shined for the Chiefs and helped them secure a Super Bowl victory.

Breeland made a game-winning pass deflection against the Patriots on fourth down; the win allowed the Chiefs to clinch the AFC West. He finished the 2019 season with 48 total tackles, two interceptions, eight passes defended, and two fumble recoveries.
In Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers, Breeland recorded a team-high seven tackles and intercepted a pass by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during the 31–20 win.
