    Colts Football: Who is Jim Bob Cooter?

    Jim Bob Cooter was recently hired to be the Colt’s offensive coordinator. The news regarding Cooeter’s hire broke on Monday and was reported by ESPN Reporter Jeremy Fowler. Jim Bob Cooter is one of the newest hires under new head coach Shane Steichen. Jim Bob Cooter takes over for Parks Frazier who went to the Carolina Panthers.

    Jim Bob Cooter’s Background

    Jim Bob Cooter has been coaching in the NFL since 2009. Cooter began his coaching career with the Indianapolis Colts as an offensive assistant. Cooter also assisted the offensive coordinator in 2011. Cooter has coached for the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, New York Jets, and Jacksonville Jaguars. Cooter has held many titles which include; running backs coach, offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and passing game coordinator.

    Jim Bob Cooter has worked with some talented quarterbacks. Cooter coached Peyton Manning in 2013. Peyton Manning passed for 5,477 yards and threw 55 touchdowns. Cooter coached Matthew Stafford from 2014-2016. Stafford completed 65.7 percent of his passed and threw over 20 touchdowns each season. Stafford also passed for over 4,000 yards each season with Cooter.

    Cooter helped Trevor Lawrence have a bounce-back season in 2022. Lawrence passed for 4,113 yards, threw 25 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions.

    How Can Jim Bob Cooter Help the Colts?

    Jim Bob Cooter can use his experience to help Indy’s offense and quarterback situation. Indianapolis’s offense ranked 27th in 2022. Indianapolis averaged 311.6 yards per game and averaged 17 points per game. Cooter can help the Colt’s offense improve and become more competitive. Cooter has worked with different types of quarterbacks and should be able to get the best out of Indy’s quarterback in 2023. Welcome back, Jim Bob Cooter.
