Trevor Lawrence’s availability moving forward has been a big question mark after his shoulder injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 16. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be a long-term issue.
According to the latest updates, Lawrence’s right shoulder setback isn’t believed to be a “major injury,” per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Jaguars star is set to have an MRI this Christmas Day, and hopes are high he’s going to battle through the injury like he has done all season long.

Trevor Lawrence suffered the injury late in the third quarter of Sunday’s game while he was diving for a first down in a fourth-and-one situation. While the 24-year-old signal-caller was able to come back after the play, he was eventually ruled out, with CJ Beathard replacing him and taking over in the fourth quarter of the 30-12 loss.
It’s certainly encouraging to hear the possibility that Lawrence dodged a major bullet when it comes to his injury. After all, the young quarterback himself admitted after Sunday’s game that the injury is “bothering him,” fueling fears about his health condition.
“Hopefully nothing major but, yeah, it’s bugging me right now,” Lawrence explained, via Pro Football Talk.
“When I landed I knew something was off. And the next play it kind of hurts to throw. I wanted to finish the drive out and we were able to get some points, and then on the two-point [conversion attempt I] could tell by the way I threw it I couldn’t really get my shoulder up good enough to really keep playing.”
Hopefully Lawrence’s injury isn’t really as serious as it seemed to be. Everyone knows Lawrence is a warrior, considering the fact that he hasn’t missed a game this 2023 campaign so far despite facing multiple injuries. But at the end of the day, if his shoulder problem is significant enough, the former Clemson standout might have no other choice but to sit out.
Trevor Lawrence Injury Could Be Brutal for Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars dropped to 8-7 on the season with the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they are still well on their way to winning the AFC South. However, things are only going to get more difficult, with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans owning a similar record.
Basically, with how things are going, none of the three teams can afford to lose in their final two games of the season. If any of them fail and the others win, it could very well spell the end of their playoff bids.
With that said, a potential Trevor Lawrence absence could be devastating for the Jaguars. Without their quarterback, they will have to rely on CJ Beathard. But that might be asking too much of him considering what’s at stake.
It’s Christmas, and sure enough, fans are wishing for some good news on the Lawrence injury front.
