The Jacksonville Jaguars released a devastating update on the status of quarterback Trevor Lawrence in Week 16. The news doesn’t bode well for the Jaguars season going forward.
Lawrence has suffered several injuries in the latter part of the season. He suffered a knee bruise in October and a high ankle sprain in early December. Lawrence was in the concussion protocol this week but was cleared Saturday afternoon to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Christmas Eve.
Lawrence struggled against the Buccaneers, as he was 17/29 passing for 211 yards passing, one touchdown, and two interceptions. The Buccaneers led the Jaguars 30-6 with four minutes to go in the game. The worst news for the Jaguars on Sunday came late in the fourth quarter.
The Jacksonville Jaguars rule out their starting QB
According to Mike Garafolo with the NFL Network, Lawrence was ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury.#Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence’s season of injuries continues. This time it’s his shoulder. He’s been ruled out.

The good news for the Jaguars is that the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans lost Sunday. So the Jaguars will be tied for the AFC South at 8-7 heading into Week 17. However, Lawrence’s injury could spell doom for the Jaguars with two games left in the regular season.
Lawrence didn’t seem 100 percent Sunday, even before he sustained the shoulder injury that knocked him out of the Buccaneers game. Lawrence could be questionable to play the Carolina Panthers next week after having a serious enough injury to be ruled out in Week 16. His health could keep the Jaguars out of the playoffs.
