Trevor Lawrence’s status for Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns has been a major question mark throughout the week due to the ankle injury he sustained in Week 13. Interestingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars plan to start him.
The Jaguars, however, won’t be risking Lawrence’s health without precaution. While they do plan to have him play in the contest, it will still depend on how he feels in the pregame warmups, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“Jaguars are planning for Trevor Lawrence to start Sunday vs. the Browns, but need to work out the franchise quarterback in pregame warmups before making a final decision, per sources,” Schefter reported. He added, “Lawrence will be six days removed from a high ankle sprain — an injury that typically sidelines players multiple weeks. But Lawrence never has missed a game due to injury in high school, college or the NFL.”
It will be interesting to see if Lawrence will be able to suit up against the Browns considering how bad his right ankle looked after he tweaked it during Monday Night Football.
Trevor Lawrence’s Scary Ankle Injury with Jacksonville Jaguars
For those who missed it, the Jacksonville Jaguars QB hurt his ankle after his teammate, offensive tackle Walker Little, stepped on it while he was surveying the field for a pass against the Cincinnati Bengals. Making matters worse, Trevor Lawrence’s body fell hard on his right foot as it bent awkwardly. The good news is that he was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and that there’s no tear of any sort. However, such injury requires some time before it fully heals, so there were concerns that Lawrence could miss Week 14 since there’s less than a week turnaround before they play again.

In a rather shocking turn, the Jaguars listed Lawrence as questionable against the Browns, indicating that there’s a chance he could play. The team did sign quarterback Nathan Rourke to the active roster in a move largely seen as preparation for the possibility of Lawrence being sidelined, but it now seems they won’t have any issue at QB1.
Hopefully there won’t be any setback in Lawrence’s return. They lost to the Bengals after his exit, and considering the tight race in the AFC South, they really need every win they can get.
