While eyes are still geared toward the spectacle of a Las Vegas-hosted Super Bowl, the Jacksonville Jaguars are already preparing for the 2024 NFL season.
They’re trying to recapture some of the magic that saw them make a deep playoff run in 2022. However, analysts aren’t fancying their chances at a deep playoff run.
Jacksonville Jaguars ignored for possible Super Bowl appearance
Fox Sports’ Greg Auman posted early odds for Super LIX. While the game won’t happen until next year, it paints an interesting picture of the Jacksonville Jaguar’s place in the NFL landscape.
A year out, here are the initial odds from @betonline_ag for next year’s Super Bowl. Falcons lead the NFC South at 33:1, Bucs at 50:1, Saints at 100:1, Panthers last at 150:1. pic.twitter.com/UZ84QCoBSy

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are at the top of the list, with a couple of other strong teams not that far behind. However, it’s interesting to see the Jacksonville Jaguars be placed so far behind when they were among the heavy favorites coming into the 2023 season.
In fact, there are eight teams in front of the Jaguars when it comes to Super Bowl odds. Even the young Houston Texans are ranked higher than them.
Why did the Jaguars fall off the radar?
John Shipley of the Jguar Report explained why the Jacksonville Jaguars fell off the rankings for so many fans as well as their immediate concerns for the 2024 offseason:
After an 8-3 start to the season, the Jaguars lost five of their last six games to end the season at 9-8 and in second place in the AFC South, all while missing the playoffs altogether. Now, the Jaguars have internal questions of how to upgrade the roster while also trying to catch up to the Texans at the same time.
One of their top priorities as a team is to bolster their pass defense as they allowed 4076 passing yards and 27 TDs. They also need to be more efficient with their rushing game to allow Trevor Lawrence more leeway in the pocket.
It will be an interesting time for the Jacksonville Jaguars to try and stop the Houston Texans from reigning over the AFC South, and the division might finally have its marquee rivalry for 2024.
