The hype is amping up as Las Vegas prepares to host Super Bowl LVIII, but ticket prices are reportedly on the rise.
While it’s understandable that everything gets a markup in price when it enters Sin City, it’s still quite surprising for some Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers fans who want to watch their team lift the Lombardi trophy live.
Super Bowl LVIII ticket prices almost reach $10,000
According to AP’s Mark Anderson, tickets for the biggest game of the football season are currently priced at $9,815 on TickPick. While still a bit ways off, it almost doubled the $5,795 average asking price for Super Bowl LVII between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona. The most affordable ticket for this game still has a painful $8,188 price tag.
There are various reasons for the sudden increase in prices. One of the most probable reason is the amount of star power involved in this game. Taylor Swift will do everything in her power to attend this game and support her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
However, an international pop sensation isn’t the only reason why the prices have soared above the stratosphere, as one TickPick executive explained:
“Location has always impacted demand for a Super Bowl, but Vegas takes things to a whole other level,” TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg said in a statement to The Associated Press. “It’s already the entertainment capital of the world, and could very well become the sports capital of the world after the Super Bowl.
“With both teams having made at least one Super Bowl appearance in the past five years, we would typically expect there to be slight fatigue from fans, in turn causing prices to dip. Instead, we’re seeing demand hit record highs and a big driver being that fans want to experience their team winning a Super Bowl in Vegas.”
Nick Bosa dismisses criticism towards Brock Purdy
There’s no question within the San Francisco 49ers locker room that Brock Purdy is their quarterback despite the numerous criticisms the second-year gunslinger has received.
Nick Bosa is the latest Niner to come to Purdy’s defense, as reported by The Daily Mail’s Alastair Talbot:
When asked about his thoughts on Purdy ‘getting his wheels on’ in the second half, Bosa – a defensive end on the 49ers – told CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson: “I don’t pay attention to the media much, but whoever is talking s*** about Brock Purdy…what do you have now?
“What message did Brock send in this type of game?” replied Anderson. “He’s the best game-manager in the league,” said Bosa without hesitation.
Purdy’s performance against the Detroit Lions last weekend was more than enough for Bosa, who scored two sacks and four QB hits against Jared Goff. Purdy had a solid game, finishing with 267 passing yards and a TD.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are a much tougher test than Detroit at Super Bowl LVIII, but Purdy, Bosa, and the rest of the Niners squad welcome the challenge.
