Georgia Bulldogs overlook a Tough Kent State

The Georgia Bulldogs overlook a tough opponent and almost paid for it. They have dominated every team put in front of them on offense and defense up to now. During which they’ve scored in almost every drive with also not allowing a touchdown against their first string defense. That is untill today, when Kent State came to Athens. It was a recipe for disaster and the Kent State Golden Flashes almost shook up the college football world.

    The overlooked but battle tested

Kent State has had a very tough road before coming to Athens Ga today. Including today’s matchup their first four games three were against ranked opponents. The only unranked opponent was dominated 63-10. They have played 18 ranked Washington to a 45-20 loss, Oklahoma to a 33-3 loss, and now Georgia to a 39-22 loss. The Golden Flashes were competitive most of those games. In the biggest loss Oklahoma scored 28 points in the third quarter after a close first half. This is a very good football team that if overlooked will take a win from a top team.

Georgia’s mistake of believing their great

The Bulldogs fell right into a trap that so many others do. They believed all the talk of their greatness and overlooked a hungry team coming in. The thing is when you are the top team you get everyone’s best in every game. So if you overlook any you could get surprised especially a team like Kent State that is battle tested so far this season.

The stats of this game doesn’t match the final score. All the statistics look like Georgia should have dominated except one, the three turnovers. That’s what kept this close and Kent State did amazing at capitalizing off of them. Stetson Bennett threw his first interception of the season and Ladd McConky fumbled twice. Besides the drives they turned it over Georgia scored on every other drive not punting once.

    Look ahead for both

I don’t see this as exposing any weakness on the Bulldogs. I actually think this might be the best thing that could’ve happened as Georgia got a reality check without having to suffer a loss. A team that was told how great they are by everybody did the worst thing they could do, believe it. After getting punched in the mouth they might take a fall in rankings but look for a very determined and angry Georgia Bulldogs team to be on the field for the next few games and hopefully rest of the season. I don’t see the Georgia Bulldogs overlook another team this season. As for Kent State they are going into conference play with a battle tested very good squad and I will be looking for them to give the other teams more than they can handle.
