The Denver Broncos have gotten off to an ugly 1-5 start this season after their 19-8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. This has caused Broncos fans everywhere to call for the firing of head coach Sean Payton. Payton came in this season talking about how he was going to turn this team around especially offensively, and has done the exact opposite so far.
Sean Payton has been an absolute dumpster fire in Denver. Don’t be blaming Russ for this.

Fire Sean Payton please. Why the hell is our fullback playing wideout but our second round pick doesn’t hardly see the field as a receiver???

Payton dreams fondly of the warmth of a studio gig. Could the Denver Broncos really fire Sean Payton after one season? https://t.co/iczMTQQUTX

Just fire Sean Payton. He’s a terrible coach https://t.co/rqfJMKvjHO

Sean Payton’s 2023
These are just a few of many Denver fans calling for the firing of their new head coach after just six games. It is hard to tell whether Payton is the problem, though, as the Broncos have many factors that are causing them to struggle. It could be the aging quarterback Russell Wilson, the lack of receivers, or the horrific play of the defense. Either way it looks like most fans are placing the blame on their head coach.
If you recall this past offseason, then you know that Payton was taking shots at the previous coaching job from Nathaniel Hackett. He said that Hackett had “One of the worst coaching jobs in NFL history” once landing the job in Denver this season. Well, if you look at the stats so far, it looks like Payton is actually doing a worse job than Hackett so far.
Denver Broncos’ Struggles
The Broncos have been a dumpster fire this season on both sides of the ball. On offense, they have amounted to 1,838 yards and 14 touchdowns, which is not the worst in the league, but certainly not what they expected at this point in the season.
As for the defense, they have allowed over 440 yards per game and 23 touchdowns which puts them dead last in the NFL for total defense. This has been shocking to every NFL fan as Denver had one of the top defenses last season. So far, they have not lived up to any of the hype.
