The Dallas Cowboys have been criticized this offseason for not making enough moves in NFL free agency. Dallas won the NFC East with a 12-5 record a season ago and were the number two seed, but were bounced on wild card weekend against the Green Bay Packers.
They have lost some players this off-season. One of the biggest questions for the Dallas Cowboys on offense this season will be who can help CeeDee Lamb at the wide receiver position. At the moment, Brandin Cooks is the number two wide receiver on the roster. Michael Gallup is no longer in Dallas and with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The question will be entering training camp for the Dallas Cowboys is who will be the third wide receiver for Dallas? As of right now, Jalen Tolbert is listed as the third wide receiver on the roster, but all of that can very well change.
Dallas Cowboys Sixth-Round Pick Ryan Flournoy Has a Chance To Overtake Jalen Tolbert’s Roster Spot
Dallas selected wide receiver Ryan Flournoy from Southeast Missouri State with the 216th overall pick (sixth-round selection) in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is 6’2″, weighs 197 lbs, and is also 24 years old. Flournoy is currently listed with the second team on the Dallas Cowboys depth chart for the wide receiver position.
During the 2023 season with the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, he caught 57 passes for 839 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Flournoy also rushed for 49 yards on six carries and a touchdown.
During the NFL combine, he ran a 4.44 40-yard dash, which ranked in the Top-15 among all wide receivers. Flournoy told Todd Brock of cowboyswire.usatoday.com by saying about modeling his game:
“The great Jerry Rice. I used to watch his highlights all the time. And I still do today, just because of his work ethic and how he really just was dominant.”
Flournoy also is a fan of former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and current wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. He said to the media:
“I take a look at a lot of great receivers. I like to compare myself sometimes to Dez Bryant sometimes, just because we have the same frame and the same capabilities.”
The Dallas Cowboys faithful hopes that former Southeast Missouri State wide receiver Ryan Flournoy will work well alongside CeeDee Lamb. Quarterback Dak Prescott is missing that other wide receiver he can rely on because the offense can not be one-dimensional in the passing game and they lack a running game to begin with.
