The New York Jets and Nathaniel Hackett were apparently not ready for Micah Parsons. He torched the Jets easily getting the quarterback Zach Wilson often. The new offensive coordinator revealed in an interview that they underestimated Parsons in one key area.
New York Jets Nathaniel Hackett Underestimated Micah Parsons
They knew they were dealing with an elite talent but his speed and quickness surprised the new offensive coordinator. Hackett had this to say to New York Post reporter Ryan Dunleavy
“We even underestimated his speed on the quick game. He is spectacular, and somebody you have to look back and say, ‘Can you even do that?’ We looked back at the tape, corrected it and saw how we can help ourselves out.”
Parsons has been the clear best player on the field in the first two games. He requires one hundred percent of the attention for an opposing offense. This type of attention can often lead to a drop in production but not for Parsons. His skills and variety of tools make it so he is borderline unstoppable.
Weird To Admit This
I thought this was weird to admit. Parsons has been in the league for a couple of years now and there is plenty of tape on him. While I’ll admit that there is a difference between seeing a player on tape and seeing a player in person, it feels like an NFL team shouldn’t underestimate Parsons in any way. Ultimately, I think this comment says more about Micah Parsons than it does about the Jets’ offense. Their offense has a myriad of issues that have nothing to do with the star defensive end. They are just fortunate they don’t have to play him again this season.
Nathaniel Hackett is thankful that week 2 is over. Unfortunately, the rival Patriots and their pass rush are waiting in week 3. I doubt they will underestimate players again this season.
