Daniel Jones’ 2023 season has been a nightmare. During the second quarter of New York’s game against the Raiders, Jones went down and immediately reached for his knee. He left the game right away and did not return before halftime. The Giants ruled Jones out for the remainder of the game shortly after the break.

Jones has already missed three games this season because of a neck injury. Unfortunately, he’s no stranger to injury in his career, having also missed time for various ailments across his first three seasons. The 2022 campaign was his only fully healthy one, culminating in Daniel Jones’ best professional season and a playoff win for the Giants.
As a reward, Jones was handed a $160 million contract that is supposed to last for four years. If Jones doesn’t touch the field again this season, year one will be in the books. That would be 909 passing yards and 206 rushing yards across six games. Granted, Jones only finished two of them.
How do the Giants Replace Daniel Jones?
With Tyrod Taylor also injured (on the IR with a rib injury), Tommy DeVito was thrust into the game after Jones went down. DeVito is a rookie whose first taste of game action came in Week 8 against the Jets. He’s the only healthy quarterback on New York’s active roster right now.
The trade deadline passed, so the Giants will need to sign someone to at least be a backup for the rest of 2023. As for the future, New York may be staring down a top-three pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Will New York find Daniel Jones’ replacement in the draft this year? It seems increasingly likely after his unfortunate injury leaves the Giants’ offense as the NFL’s worst.
