Initially, many thought that Daniel Jones wouldn’t return from his neck injury until Week 10 against the Cowboys. Well, Jones declared that if everything goes well this week, he will be playing against the Raiders one week ahead of schedule. The Giants starting quarterback made his statement during his weekly appearance on the “Up and Adams” show.

That’s excellent news for Jones and Big Blue, as backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor was injured during the team’s Week 8 loss to the Jets. That left Tommy DeVito, a rookie, as the only healthy QB on New York’s roster. Now, the franchise doesn’t need to add another arm to the roster, while also getting their top guy back.
Of course, this is all under the assumption that Daniel Jones doesn’t experience any setbacks during practice this week. Neck injuries can be tricky and potentially life-altering if not handled properly. Still, that he’s been cleared is excellent news. Hopefully, everything goes well for him throughout the week.
Daniel Jones’ Season So Far
Before going down with a neck injury in New York’s fifth game, Daniel Jones had racked up 884 passing yards and 197 rushing yards. He only played two games with the team’s star, Saquon Barkley, who was also dealing with an injury. The Giants are last in points per game and only mustered 33 in the three weeks that Jones missed.
They desperately need any offensive help that they can get. Jones was given a massive four-year, $160 million contract this offseason, so the Giants expect big things from him. Let’s see if he can turn around this 2-6 team that has mostly failed because of the offense.
