It seems that the Washington Commanders aren’t done after trading Montez Sweat earlier this afternoon. Per Ian Rapaport, the Commanders are also fielding calls for defensive end Chase Young. He was the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and won Defensive Rookie of the Year that season.
Chase Young has spent his entire career with the Washington Commanders, racking up 14.0 sacks and six forced fumbles in 34 games. He spent the past two seasons battling injuries but is back with 5.0 sacks in seven games this year. Young will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Washington Commanders Are Sellers
The Washington Commanders’ new ownership has clearly seen enough after the team’s 3-5 start. They’ve dropped five of their last six games, including embarrassing performances against the Bears, who acquired Sweat, and (also selling) Giants. Chase Young could be the latest domino to fall as the team tries to gain draft capital before today’s 4:00 p.m. EDT trade deadline.
