The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been to the Super Bowl since they defeated the Buffalo Bills in 1996. Turns out, sports analyst Stephen A. Smith thinks that the solution lies in getting Bill Belichick to be their new head coach.
The Cowboys are looking to revitalize their run game as they head into their matchup against the New York Giants. Under head coach Mike McCarthy, the team aims to establish a more balanced offensive strategy that can effectively utilize their running backs, including the dynamic Tony Pollard.
Pollard’s ability to break tackles and make explosive plays will be crucial for the Cowboys, especially as they seek to alleviate some pressure off quarterback Dak Prescott. The coaching staff recognizes that a strong ground game can open up passing opportunities and create mismatches against opposing defenses.
Historically, the Cowboys have thrived on their rushing attack, and McCarthy hopes to return to that identity. The success of the run game will hinge on the offensive line’s performance, which needs to create lanes for Pollard and any other backs in the rotation.
In their previous encounters, Dallas has struggled against the Giants’ defense, which has been known to disrupt opposing run games. However, with a renewed focus and strategic adjustments, the Cowboys believe they can turn the tide.
Stephen A. Smith Says Dallas Cowboys Must Get Bill Belichick To Truly Become Super Bowl Contenders
Known for his hot takes on various sporting topics, Smith has let one out again when it comes to the Cowboys. His opinion can be seen in a video posted by ESPN recently.
“Bill Belichick, what’s the last thing this man wants to do? I don’t give a damn about the appearances now. I don’t care what he’s doing. What’s the one thing coach Bill Belichick absolutely positively avoids doing? Talking to the media. Let Jerry get all the shine. Let him coach the team.
And let me tell you something right now, you’re gonna have a bunch of brothers far more focused and prepared than they are right now. You do that and the Dallas Cowboys are challenging for the Super Bowl championship next year. This season’s a wash. You’re not gonna win anything this season. But if you listen to me Jerry I’m telling you before it’s time, you gonna get yourself a Super Bowl. Mark my words,” Smith said.
Smith has urged team owner Jerry Jones to consider hiring Belichick as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. On ESPN’s First Take, he pointed out Mike McCarthy’s postseason struggles and suggested that Belichick could elevate the team’s performance and lead them to Super Bowl contention.
However, Smith acknowledged potential conflicts between Belichick and Jones over control, which could hinder progress. As the Cowboys underperform this season, Jones may need to reassess his coaching options, making the possibility of Belichick more intriguing if current issues persist.
