New York Giants star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers continued one of the best starts any rookie wide receiver has had in the history of the league.
At the end of the Thursday Night Football matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, Nabers was targeted to move the chains and keep the game going, but he wasn’t able to haul it in and stayed on the turf with an injury.
New York Giants WR Malik Nabers gave the Giants a chance
Nabers finished the game leading all WRs in receptions and yards with 12 receptions and 115 yards. Star Dallas Cowboys WR Ceedee Lamb, who just became one of the highest-paid WRs in the league, had seven receptions for 98 yards.
Nabers said in an article from NFL.com that this game was no different than any other game despite the fact that he was going up against a division rival.
“It’s football,” he said. “A game is a game. Every time I go out there, a game is a game. No matter what day it is, a game is a game.”
Nabers had 15 targets to get him up over 50 targets through just four games this season. Fans began to grow weary of a potential overusage of Nabers and their worst nightmare came true at the end of the game.
Nabers was trying to make a game-saving catch while lined up across from Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs, but he hit the ground hard and didn’t get up. The game was nearly over, but Nabers didn’t come back for the last sub-30-second attempt at a game-winning drive.

Nabers was officially ruled out with a concussion, which is good news for Giants fans in the grand scheme of things. Concussions aren’t a good thing, but they are week-to-week whereas a potential serious shoulder injury could’ve put Nabers out for the season.
