The Dallas Cowboys haven’t needed to rely on CeeDee Lamb much in the first two weeks. The defense has been dominant through the first two weeks and the team has been up big in the fourth quarter. Despite this, Lamb is on a historic pace in terms of receiving.
Dallas Cowboys CeeDee Lamb On Historic Pace
Lamb currently has 220 receiving yards on 15 receptions which ranks sixth and seventh, in the league respectively. He has some other stats that are eye-popping. There’s not a single player in the top 30 in receptions who bests Lamb’s catch percentage (88.2), and his 12.9 yards per target leads the league for those with 15+ receptions. If he keeps on this pace, he will finish the season with 1,870 yards which would be fourth in NFL history right ahead of Jerry Rice. That is some great company to be keeping.
Can He Keep The Pace Up?
There are a couple of things against him. The catch percentage will most likely come down and Brandin Cooks should return from injury taking away some targets. However, because the team has been up big in the fourth quarter, Lamb could see more targets in close games when Dak Prescott is looking for a reliable target. The crazy thing about this pace is that other receivers like Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill are also on historic pace. If all of them keep it up, we could see a historic season from wide receivers in 2023.
The Dallas Cowboys have to be happy with how CeeDee Lamb has grown since they drafted him. They were hoping they would get a number one wide receiver and that is exactly what he has become. The Cowboys have looked dominant over the first two weeks and are hoping this is finally the year to break the Super Bowl curse.
