Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones firmly believes Dak Prescott deserves to win the NFL MVP award this 2023 season. After all, he has been playing like one for the now 10-3 Cowboys.
Jones’ MVP endorsement of his quarterback comes after Prescott powered the Cowboys to 33-13 win over the then top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14 on Sunday.
Prescott stepped up big in their revenge game against the Eagles–who beat them 28-23 early in the season during their Week 9 meeting. The Cowboys signal-caller completed 24 of his 39 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns, all while taking care of the ball as well with zero interception.
The 30-year-old also made three rushing attempts, gaining 11 yards in the process. He started off hot in the game (168 total yards and two touchdowns in the first half) and found both CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup in the end zone to help the Cowboys build an insurmountable lead.
After the game, Jones was full of praises for his quarterback, noting that there’s no doubt he is the most valuable player in the NFL right now.
“I would say he’s become the most valuable player right before our eyes in the last several months,” Jerry Jones sad of Dak Prescott, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.
Sure enough, with the way he is playing, Prescott has made a case for himself as the 2023 MVP.
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott Leading MVP Odds
It’s not only Jerry Jones saying that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is deserving of the MVP award. The latest odds say it as well.
After leading the Cowboys over the Eagles, the MVP odds shifted heavily on Dak Prescott to win the highest individual honor in the game.
Seth Walder of ESPN shared the odds from ESPN Bet, which has Prescott at +175 to win. San Francisco 49ers star Brock Purdy is a close second at +225, followed by Jalen Hurts (+650) and Lamar Jackson (+650).
It remains to be seen if Prescott can actually win the award, but if he can maintain his level of play and continue leading the Cowboys to wins, it’s not hard to see him securing several MVP votes.
So far this 2023, Prescott has tallied 26 touchdowns against just six interceptions, while completing 70.1 percent of his passes. Dallas is also currently on a five-game winning streak with four games left on the season.
