Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett continued solidifying his Hall of Fame case on Sunday, tallying two sacks in his team’s 39-38 rollercoaster win over the Indianapolis Colts. The two-time All-Pro made history with the pair of sacks, surpassing Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles great Reggie White for a distinctive record. Garrett overtook White for the most career sacks (82) for a player before their 28th birthday.
With two sacks today vs. the Colts, Browns’ DE Myles Garrett – who has 82 career sacks and turns 28 years old this season – surpassed Reggie White (80 sacks) for most NFL sacks by a player prior to his 28th birthday since 1982, when the individual sack became an official stat. pic.twitter.com/TzUagfWmO8

Myles Garrett: NFL Career
Myles Garrett, the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Texas A&M, played well as a rookie, totaling seven sacks in 11 games. However, he took a big step forward during his second season, accumulating 13.5 sacks and 29 QB hits while being named to the Pro Bowl as a 23-year-old. After a suspension derailed his 2019 season, Garrett tallied a ludicrous 44 sacks from 2020 to 2022. He earned first-team All-Pro honors twice during that span. After Sunday’s tilt, the six-foot-four edge rusher has 7.5 sacks.
Myles Garrett is Among the Best Pass Rushers in NFL History
Garrett joins T.J. Watt, Micah Parsons, and Nick Bosa, among others, as the best defensive ends in football. Watt, alongside Minnesota Vikings LB Danielle Hunter, entered Week 7 with the NFL lead in sacks at 8.0. However, at his current pace, Myles Garrett could become one of the best pass rushers of all time, statistically. The 28-year-old is just 18 sacks away from joining a small list of players with 100 sacks.
