The Buffalo Bills gave the Philadelphia Eagles a run for their money on Sunday. The Bills came in as the underdogs against a surging Eagles side at the Lincoln Financial Field, but for certain points in the hard-fought encounter, it looked like the Bills were going to escape with a win.
They ultimately came up short, though, with Philly securing a thrilling 37-34 win in overtime.
Buffalo Bills Coach Sean McDermott Speaks Out on Loss
You have to give credit to the Bills for their effort on Sunday. While they still went home on the receiving end of a tough loss, the fact of the matter is that this team has taken significant strides since their recent coaching overhaul.
Speaking to reporters after the game, head coach Sean McDermott revealed his message to his team after the defeat. While the tenured shot-caller did see some silver lining in the loss, the harsh reality for the Bills is that a loss is still a loss:
“There are no moral victories,” McDermott said, via Myles Simmons of PFT. “I am encouraged by the direction of our offense the last two weeks. I think holistically as a team, I will assess where we are at. I am going to do some self-scout this week and get ourselves ready for the Kansas City Chiefs.”
There are still some positives to take out of this defeat, though, including the fact that the Bills appear to be taking steps in the right direction following their decision to fire offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey.
They have an extremely tough test ahead of them in Week 14 against the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs. Once again, the Bills will enter that game as the underdogs, but they do have a tremendous opportunity to make a statement if they are able to upset Patrick Mahomes and Co.
