Kyle Shanahan gives injury updates
Kyle Shanahan had rough news on the injury front to report at his Wednesday press conference. The San Francisco 49ers are getting ready this week to play the Philadelphia Eagles on the road for the NFC Championship. Shanahan basically ruled one player out for the game and gave updates on three other key players for Sunday.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Shanahan said quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo wasn’t expected to be back this weekend against the Eagles. Shanahan said last week there was a chance Garoppolo would be back for the NFC championship. He said there’d be a better chance Garoppolo would be back if the 49ers made the Super Bowl.

Kyle Shanahan said running backs Christian McCaffrey (calf) and Elijah Mitchell (groin) would not practice Wednesday for the 49ers. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, dealing with an ankle injury, would miss practice as well.
Shanahan provided an update on defensive end Charles Omenihu, who was arrested Monday on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. The 49ers coach said if healthy, Omenihu would play against the Eagles.

That’s not great news for the 49ers heading into practice. They’ll need McCaffrey and Samuel ready to go Sunday against a stout Eagles defense.
