San Francisco 49ers defensive end Charles Omenihu was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence on Monday. This development was reported in a news release by the San Jose Police Department.

Per the report, a woman called police to a San Jose residence. She said that Omenihu, her boyfriend, had pushed her to the ground during a dispute. Police did not observe any injuries on the woman and she declined medical attention.

Omenihu was arrested and booked by the San Jose Police Department. He was then released after he posted bail.

The 49ers Are Aware of the Situation

In a statement that was released to the public, the 49ers stated: “We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information.”

The 49ers, of course, will play in the NFC Championship Game in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Omenihu’s case is being referred to Santa Clara County for possible charges. Since the American justice system is notoriously slow, especially in cases involving high-profile athletes and/or domestic violence, it is expected that Omenihu will be available for the 49ers on Sunday.
