The Chicago Bears unexpectedly received the no. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. This left the team with a conundrum. Do you stick with Justin Fields or trade him to take a top QB prospect? The Bears have reportedly made their decision in regard to Justin Fields.

The #Bears have decided to go ahead with Justin Fields as the franchise QB and will try to trade the 1st overall pick in the draft instead of drafting a quarterback prospect, according to @AlbertBreer

Bears To Keep Justin Fields; Trade No. 1 Overall Pick

Fields made enough of an impression this year for the Bears to stick with him. While he still had his struggles, Fields showed massive improvement throughout the year. Some of the mistakes came from a lack of talent around him. The Bears will try and trade out of the no. 1 overall pick. They will not have a lack of suitors as the Texans, Colts, Raiders, and Panthers have all been rumored to covet the Bears’ pick.

The Best Move For The Bears

This is the right move for the Bears. While Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, or any of the top prospects may have amazing careers, it is a large unknown. The Bears will also likely be able to get a king’s ransom for their pick. This will give them the ammo to reload their roster with lots of talent. They likely will still get a top player in the draft plus future draft capital as well. Fields could still be a bust but trading the pick will give them options to remedy that situation should that happen.

The draft is going to have no shortage of intrigue. Who ends up with the first pick will be a huge story that could have massive implications on what other teams do.
