When you look at the landscape of college football in 2023, there is always one common denominator that separates the best from the rest– the offensive and defensive line. Although often overlooked, the line can ultimately make or break a team. It can be the difference between a national title, and missing out on the playoffs. Even though they are arguably the most important piece of a team, they rarely get any attention. We decided to throw the big guys a bone. Allow us to bring you inside the trenches and introduce you to the unsung heroes of the 2023…

On Thursday, January 5th, long-time Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman entered the transfer portal. The ACC’s all time leader in passing touchdowns finally made his transfer official after defeating the Missouri Tigers 27-17 in the Gasparilla Bowl, a bittersweet end to Hartman’s tenure with the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest HC Dave Clawson had something to say about the transfer portal and it’s effect on college football as we know it. “What’s going on behind the scenes right now in college football, nobody’s stopping it. There’s no punishment. If this is the way it’s going to be, that’s fine, but let’s…

Makari Vickers will ultimately go down as one of the biggest recruiting wins for Oklahoma in the 2023 cycle. Vickers hails from Tallahassee, Florida, a place that the Sooners have struggled mightily to recruit over the past several years. In 2023 that completely flipped on its head. Oklahoma signed five different players from the state of Florida, which was more than they signed from any other state. On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to interview Makari Vickers, and get to know why he chose Oklahoma. What Led Makari Vickers to Oklahoma? When I asked Makari about why he chose Oklahoma,…

On Wednesday, December 28th, former Oklahoma State defensive end Trace Ford announced that he will be transferring to the Oklahoma Sooners. Ford hails from Edmond, Oklahoma, and did not hold an offer from the Sooners coming out of high school. Ford’s recruitment was considered one of the biggest recruiting blunders by the Lincoln Riley staff. However, it appears that the new staff has “righted the wrong” by picking him up in the transfer portal over USC and Auburn. https://twitter.com/traceford12/status/1608204758640381957 As you would expect, this has not gone over well with Poke fans. Many are angry that he decided to transfer…

On Monday, December 26th, the Purdue Boilermakers got a bit of a late Christmas present with the addition of former Texas QB Hudson Card. Card was ranked as the 59th overall player coming out of high school (#2 QB) and had a grade of 0.9721. This makes Hudson Card the third highest commit in program history, and he stands alone as the highest rated QB. This is obviously a massive get for Purdue, as Card is one of the top QBs in the transfer portal this cycle. What Will Hudson Card Bring to Purdue? With standout QB Aidan O’Connell departing…

Five star QB Dante Moore has been a topic of conversation for quite some time now. Listed as the number three player in the country by 247 Sports, the Elite 11 finalist is one of the most talented passers in the country. Moore has been committed to Oregon for quite some time, but within the past week or so, UCLA has been picking up a ton of momentum. Big flips late in the cycle are not uncommon, however, it’s extremely rare to see a QB of his caliber begin to waiver so late. With only 12 commits in the 2023…

Brent Venables’s inaugural year at Oklahoma was filled with ups and downs. Coming off of an 11 win season, many fans, myself included, expected this to be a ten win team at minimum. However, things didn’t quite work out that way this year. After finishing the regular season at 6-6, Sooner fans are upset, and deservedly so. If they lose to Florida State in the Cheez-It Bowl, OU will finish with a losing record for the first time since 1998. Oklahoma definitely had some standout players this year, but at the same time, they also had several that did not…

Many people around Evans thought that he would commit to Georgia back in August, however, he ultimately committed to Oklahoma due to a late push by L’Damian Washington and the rest of the Sooner staff. Even after Anthony Evans committed to OU, the hype around Georgia never really went away. The noise only grew louder when he took an unofficial visit to Athens for their game against…
