Brace yourselves, FCS football fans. There will be a lot of opinions below  — and ornery opinions in general — at Gridiron Heroics. First of all, let us repeat what we’ve said for a couple of weeks now — the Big Sky Conference is the top league in the FCS universe in 2022. It’s been a long time since another conference has supplanted the Missouri Valley Football Conference — maybe as far back as the Southern Conference about 10 years ago when it still had Georgia Southern and Appalachian State within its ranks and NDSU wasn’t dominating like it has.…

Folks, I’m not going to mince words on this. I just submitted my FCS Poll Ballot (on behalf of GridironHeroics) a few minutes ago to the FCS godfather, Craig Haley, at STATS/PERFORM as part of the official FCS football poll this week — and it was a toss-up in many ways. On Tuesday morning? I’m going to publish more of a fleshed-out postseason/playoff picture (seedings, at-larges, guaranteed playoff berths, etc) with only a few weeks remaining (seeding and at-large projection, etc.) because there are trickier dynamics when it comes to the postseason picture. WEEK NINE FCS REACTION: OPINION: How did…

Each week, GridIrion Heroics FCS writer Brian McLaughlin gives his FCS football postseason outlook heading into the next week’s action. BMac breaks down his projection on the eight-team seeding, who is just outside the seeding, who will get the at-large bids, and who will nab an automatic bid after winning its conferences. And last but not least? Which teams just missed this week’s 24-team postseason outlook but could be in it soon? By each Tuesday, this will publish, and it will be updated each week through FCS Selection Sunday on Nov. 20. The final FCS football postseason stab will come…

Brace yourselves, FCS football fans. There is going to be a lot of opinions below  — and ornery opinions in general — at Gridiron Heroics. After eight weeks of results, I’m going to repeat this: Clearly, the Big Sky Conference is the top conference in the FCS. There, I said it. And like I said last week? Yes, the MVFC won the Big Sky-MVFC challenge, but in a larger scope. The Big Sky is better (the challenge had matchups that don’t reflect this level perfectly — that apples and oranges thing. The undefeated list was shortened with Weber State’s five-point…

Brace yourselves, FCS football fans. There are going to be a lot of opinions below — and ornery opinions in general — at Gridiron Heroics. First of all, let’s state what is becoming increasingly obvious each week — The Big Sky Conference is the top dawg in the FCS realm, top to bottom. I don’t care about the Big Sky-MVFC Challenge that is played on the field mostly in September, as those matchups don’t really line the teams up in a way that proves which conference is truly “tops”. I do love the Big Sky-MVFC Challenge, it is awesome and…

I just submitted this vote (on behalf of GridironHeroics) a few minutes ago to Craig Haley at STATS/PERFORM as part of the official FCS football poll ballot week six — and it was a toss-up in many ways. On Monday morning? I’m going to develop more of a postseason/playoff picture (seeding and at-large projection, etc.) because there are trickier dynamics when it comes to the postseason picture. The FCS annually has eight top seeds who don’t have to play on Thanksgiving weekend. They can go home and enjoy turkey with family…

Brace yourselves, FCS football fans. There are going to be a lot of opinions below — and in general — at Gridiron Heroics. But first, let’s get these kudos out of the way. The elite “undefeated club” is fun to be a part of around this time of year, and this will include the Ivy League now that it has played for several weeks. The 6-0 realm is held only by Holy Cross, which is cruising towards its top season since 1989. Weber State, Montana, and Sacramento State are all 5-0, but they have a lot of ton of challenging…
