It’s no secret that the Atlanta Falcons are looking for a new quarterback to lead the charge for them in the upcoming campaign. Desmond Ridder just doesn’t appear to be the team’s long-term solution, which means that they will be bringing in a new QB in the coming months — or at least they will attempt to.
Atlanta Falcons GM Vocal on Search for New QB
At this point, it does not seem like the Falcons have already set their sights on one particular target. They surely have a shortlist available but as general manager Terry Fontenot indicated in a recent press conference, the front office intends to explore any and all options:
“We have a lot of really smart people in the building,” Fontenot said (h/t Josh Alper of PFT). “We’re going to spend a lot of time together, make sure we attack that the right way. We’re not going to close any doors, be it trades, free agency, the draft. We will make sure we keep an open mind there and we’re going to attack it and make sure we get it right.”
Barring a disastrous offseason, it seems like a virtual guarantee that the Falcons will have a new QB1 in 2024-25.
Kirk Cousins Headed to Atlanta?
Could Kirk Cousins be that man? The veteran has yet to secure a new deal with the Minnesota Vikings, which means that he’s now likely to head to free agency. The Vikings will probably do whatever they can to retain the services of the four-time Pro Bowler, but at the end of the day, they might not have enough in their arsenal to keep Cousins.
The 35-year-old will reportedly seek upwards of $30 million per season, which obviously isn’t a small amount. Whether or not the Falcons will be willing to shell out this amount for Cousins remains to be seen.
